Niladri Sekhar Dash is an Assistant Professor at the Linguistic Research Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India. He developed an electronic dictionary of modern Bengali which contains nearly sixty thousand words with information on orthography, part-of-speech, meaning, synonyms, and usage for each entry word. The dictionary is used to develop an electronic Bengali-English bilingual dictionary and software for automatic correction of spelling errors in Bengali words. Dash's research interests include language technology, machine translation and natural language processing.
