Prof. Yskandar Hamam received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the American University of Beirut, in 1966, and then went on to achieve his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Manchester (UMIST) in 1970 and 1972. From 1966 to 1968, he worked as an engineer on various projects in Beirut. He became an Adjunct Professor with the Universidade Federal Rio de Janeiro, from 1972 to 1973 and then became an Assistant Professor with the American University, from 1973 to 1976.
